Six narco smugglers arrested with heroin, Rs 3 lakh cash

JAMMU, Sept 17: Nowabad police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested six narcotic smugglers along with over 500 grams heroin and Rs 3 lakh cash.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Nowabad police station laid a naka and signaled a Tata Sumo bearing registration JK22-7655 and Santro car bearing registration number JK01Q-3740 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the drivers accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicles.
During checking, police recovered 518 grams heroin and Rs 3 lakh cash from the vehicles and arrested six narcotic smugglers.
The accused have been identified as Farooq Ahmed Dar, son of Talib Hussain, Mehmood Ah, son of Talib Hussain, Liaqat Ali, son of Mohammad Qasim, Mohammad Shabbir, son of Mohammad Sharif and Mumtaz Ahmed, son of Mohammad Showkat, all residents of District Poonch and Akhlaq Khan, son of Mohammad Yaqoob, a resident of District Rajouri.
A case under FIR Number 130/16 under Section 8/21/21/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Nowabad and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Raghubir Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Nikhil Rasgotra and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
