Skimmed milk samples from Anantnag found unsafe

Srinagar, Apr 10: The samples of skimmed milk of brand ‘Param’ that were lifted from Anantnag have been found unsafe for consumption with the Food Safety Department stating that it will ensure the quality of the food items across the Valley.
The analytical report of the Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF) stated that the samples were found to be unsafe with respect to the presence of aerobic spore count and substandard with respect to fat content.
In this regard, Commissioner, Food Safety Department Kashmir Shakeelur Rehman told Excelsior that they have lifted several samples of the food items and the same have been sent to different laboratories for testing to ensure that the food items up to the standard are made available to the public.
”We will be taking legal action against ‘Param’ and we have asked the public not to consume it through an alert that has been issued. The enforcement wing of the department will destroy the stocks of the skimmed milk from the market,” he said.
The Commissioner emphasized that the department will be launching an extensive campaign in the markets during Ramzan and ahead of Eid.
