SRINAGAR, June 20: The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura has issued a circular informing about the summer vacation schedule, 2023 for its faculty members.
According to the circular, the summer vacation holidays for SKIMS faculty members will be divided into two halves. The first half will start on July 16, 2023, and will conclude on July 29, 2023, while the second half will begin on August 1, 2023, and end on August 14, 2023.
To facilitate the planning and organization of the vacation schedule, all Heads of Departments have been asked to provide the names of faculty members who wish to avail either the first or second half of the vacation period.
It has been further emphasized that 50% of the faculty staff should be available in each department during both halves of the vacation.
Furthermore, the Heads of Departments have been instructed to ensure that at least one senior faculty member remains present in the department during each half of the vacation, whenever possible.
This measure, officials said, is aimed at maintaining essential operations and addressing any emergencies that may arise.
The directives issued in this regard stated that no changes will be entertained once the roster is received from the concerned Heads of Departments. Additionally, it noted, the administration reserves the right to recall any faculty member during the vacation period in case of emergencies.
To streamline communication and ensure proper records, the circular highlights that departure reports of faculty members going on vacation will only be accepted if their residential addresses and contact numbers are recorded therein.
Moreover, the roster submitted by the Heads of Departments must explicitly specify whether any station leaving permission is required or not. Faculty members on duty will not be granted leave to attend conferences, seminars, or workshops that necessitate station permission.
The officials said that the SKIMS is taking proactive steps to manage the summer vacation period effectively and ensure the smooth functioning of its faculty members and departments during this time.
