Srinagar, Dec 5: The Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, celebrated its 41st Annual Day today, which was also virtually joined by the founder director of SKIMS, Prof AK Nagpal.
Prof. Abdul Wahid, former HoD Medicine, was the chief guest, while Prof. Baldev Singh, Former HoD Urology, attended the event as the guest of honour.
Dr Showkat A. Zargar, former Director of SKIMS and renowned Gastroenterologist, delivered the Sher-i-Kashmir Oration, during which he acknowledged the services of various faculty members and lauded them for their contribution.
Prof. Wahid, while addressing the audience, said SKIMS is a temple of knowledge, underlining that the institute has survived despite many challenges and will continue to remain a significant public institution.
Director of SKIMS, Prof. Parvaiz A. Koul, in his address, highlighted the achievements of the institution. He mentioned that various initiatives were taken to digitize patient care services. “Besides the procurement of high-end equipment, many administrative decisions were taken to facilitate patient care,” he said.
Dr Koul informed that many super-specialty courses were started in this academic year, including DM Pulmonary Medicine & MCH Endocrine Surgery.
Principal of the Medical College at SKIMS, Prof. Irfan Robbani, and Prof. Baldev Singh, former HoD Urology, also addressed the gathering.
On the occasion, the annual report was released, and winners of the grand round presentation were felicitated for their best presentations.
Earlier, Prof. Syed Besina Yasin, in her welcome address, thanked the dignitaries and participants while expressing gratitude to the administration for constant support.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by the organizing secretary, Prof. Rumana Makhdoomi.
