SKIMS conducts complex cardiac surgery

SRINAGAR, Jan 16: A complex cardiac surgery was conducted by Department of Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery, SKIMS.
A patient named Bhat Nazima with diagnosis of a rare and major complex cardiac disease called  “Common AV Canal with Common AV Valve with Severe Tricuspid Incompetence, Severe Mitral Regurgitation, Ventricular Septal  Defect and PAH” was successfully operated by a team of experts from the department of CVTS, SKIMS.
Dr GN Lone, HOD, CVTS, SKIMS, informed that Nazima was operated by a team of doctors headed by him and including Dr Farooq Ah Ganie, Dr Mir Mushtaq and Dr Haroon. The surgery which lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes, was conducted smoothly and during procedure stress was laid to create ‘2 Valvular systems and correct all associated anomalies’ which have been there since birth.
“She was removed from ventilator after 12 hours. Nazima is recovering very fast from the disease and will be discharged within a couple of days, he added.
The surgeons from CVTS and the experts and technicians from anesthesia, who assisted in the surgery include included Dr Syed Amir, Firdous Ahmad, Shareefa, Asif, Bashir Ahmad and Khalid.
