Srinagar, Feb 21: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has ordered the formation of a Medical Board as well as a committee for the inspection of drugs and surgical items.
In this regard, SKIMS has formed an 11-member Board comprising doctors from different departments of the institute, with Dr. Shariq Masoodi from the Department of Endocrinology as its Chairman.
The Board, will assess the type and percentage of disability and accordingly issue the Disability Assessment Certificate to deserving persons.
The Board has been tasked to verify requests from SKIMS staff for light duties on health grounds. “The Board can co-opt a Faculty Member from any department for this purpose,” details state.
Other members of the Board include Prof. Feroz Shaheen, In-Charge Head of the Department of Radio-diagnosis; Prof. Syed Besina Yasin, Head of the Department of Pathology; Prof. Saheel Maajid, Head of the Department of Orthopaedics; Prof. Mohammad Maqbool Wani from the Department of Neurosurgery; Prof. Nayil Khurshid Malik from the Department of Neurosurgery; Prof. Haroon Rashid Zargar from the Department of Plastic Surgery; Prof. Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone from the Department of Ophthalmology; Dr. Shahnawaz Hamid Khan, Assistant Professor from the Department of Hospital Administration; Dr. Tufail Muzaífar, Assistant Professor from the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and the Medical Record Officer from SKIMS.
SKIMS has also formed a 6-member committee to ensure and inspect the supply of drugs and surgical items.
The committee will be led by Dr. Syed Mudasir Qadri, Additional Professor from the Department of General Medicine, as Convenor, with Dr. Abdul Waheed Mir, Additional Professor from the Department of Critical Care; Dr. Surjeet Singh, Associate Professor from the Department of Clinical Pharmacology; Dr. Gowhar Aziz Bhat, Assistant Professor from the Department of General Surgery and Faculty In-charge of Drug & Pharmacy as Members, while the Office In-charge of SKIMS has been designated as the Member Secretary of the committee.
