SRINAGAR, Apr 7: In order to ensure high-end patient care and meet the needs of various departments, advanced medical equipment worth Rs 50 crore was commissioned today at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.
The newly added equipment includes five portable X-ray machines and a CT simulator for cancer care.
The commissioning was carried out by Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, Director SKIMS, in the presence of several faculty members and officers, including Prof. Fazalul Qadir Parray, Principal, SKIMS Medical College.
According to the details, the commissioned equipment includes 150 hospital beds for the Central Store worth Rs 1.04 crore, one unit of Radiofrequency Ablation Machine for the Central Store worth Rs 68 lakh, and two units of a complete 3D 4K visualizer tower for kidney transplant worth Rs 7 crore.
Additionally, the equipment includes one unit of High-Speed Drill for neurosurgery worth Rs 41 lakh; one unit each of a Biochemistry Analyzer and Urine Analyzer for the Emergency Lab; and one unit of a water filtration plant for the Emergency Lab. Five units of portable X-Ray machines worth Rs 25 lakh have also been commissioned for the Disaster Ward.
Officials further informed that one unit of Portable Colour Doppler USG Machine for the Radiology Department, worth Rs 82 lakh, and one unit of a Wide Bore CT Simulator for the Radiation Oncology Department, worth Rs 9.3 crore, were also commissioned.
On the occasion, officials added, one unit of Endoscopy System for the Gastroenterology Lab worth Rs 1.23 crore and one Portable Colour Doppler USG Machine at the same lab worth Rs 41 lakh were also commissioned.
Other equipment includes one unit of a Pediatric Bronchoscopy System for the Pediatric OPD worth Rs 31 lakh; 20 units of Compound Microscopes for Pathology worth Rs 25 lakh; and five units of Phototherapy for the Pediatric Ward worth Rs 3 lakh.
The newly added equipment also includes five units of High-Flow Nasal Therapy Units for the Pediatric Ward worth Rs 14 lakh; five units of Bubble CPAP worth Rs 17 lakh; 20 units of Anesthesia Workstations for Anesthesiology worth Rs 9.5 crore; two units of Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA) for Neurosurgery worth Rs 1.17 crore; and two units of Operating Microscopes for Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery worth Rs 10 crore.
Director SKIMS Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie stated that the newly procured equipment will significantly enhance patient care at SKIMS and facilitate the delivery of advanced medical services.
He added that SKIMS is also in the process of recruiting for various cadres to further strengthen its human resources and patient care capabilities.
The Director further stated that the procurement is part of a broader initiative to elevate SKIMS to match top-tier healthcare standards across the country.
