SKIMS treats 14 trigeminal neuralgia patients

SRINAGAR, Dec 11: The Department of Neurosurgery at SKIMS has successfully treated 14 patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia.
PRO SKIMS in a hand-out said that the innovative procedure involves the interposition of a Teflon graft for microvascular decompression of the nerve-a rare technique performed in only a few centers in India.
Dr. Mudasir Amin, MCH Resident Neurosurgery, presented these achievements during the Weekly Grand Round.
Director SKIMS, Prof. Parvaiz A. Koul, expressed delight at the positive outcomes, commending the team for their expertise in performing complex surgeries that brought relief to patients and their families.
Prof. Mohd Maqbool Wani, Department of Neurology, praised the efforts of the neurosurgical team in successfully treating this disabling condition.
