SKJAVST demands renaming of GHS Raipur

JAMMU, July 23: President of Shri Kailash Jyotish Avim Vedic Sansthan Trust (SKJAVST), Mahant Rohit Shastri today met with Division Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar and presented a memorandum wherein he demanded that the Government High School Raipur should be named after the name of Late Brigadier Ghansara Singh Jamwal.
Sunil Singh (Raipuria), Anil Padha and Rakesh Gandotra were also part of the delegation.
During the meeting with Div Com, Mahant Rohit Shastri narrated that late Brig Ghansara Singh Jamwal was a prominent figure of Jammu and Kashmir who strolled on the scene during a crucial period in J&K’s history. Being the first graduate from the Rajput community, he had an eventful career in the J&K State Force. He was appointed to the pivotal post of Governor of Gilgit in August, 1947 by Maharaja Hari Singh.
He further said that he became president of Dharmarth Trust in 1950 and remained on this post for 26 years and played an important role for the development of temples and shrines. During Lok Sabha elections in 1967 he got elected from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Constituency and rendered his services for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation appealed to the Divisional Commissioner to rename the School in the name of Brig Ghansara Singh High School Raipur as soon as possible and it shall be a great tribute to the brave late Brig Ghansara Singh.
