SKPA launches training courses on New Criminal Laws, Women’s Safety

UDHAMPUR, Jan 14: The Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur has started two important 5-day training programs aimed at improving the skills of police officers in Jammu and Kashmir.
The first course is focussed on “New Criminal Laws” and will include 30 officers and staff from the Udhampur and Reasi districts.
The program will cover recent changes in criminal law, including the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).
During the program, the participants will learn how to apply these laws effectively in their work through interactive sessions.
The second course is focused on “Women’s Safety” and has 20 investigators from different districts of the Union Territory.
This program aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in handling cases related to women’s safety, including key laws like the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, and the IT Act. The course will also cover modern investigative techniques.
The training programs were inaugurated by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP, and Deputy Director (Indoor/Training) at SKPA.
In his opening speech, Gupta highlighted the importance of the new criminal laws, particularly the BNS, in strengthening the criminal justice system.
He also emphasized the role of these programs in helping police personnel tackle challenges related to women’s and children’s safety, as well as the growing threat of cybercrime.
The women’s safety course will feature lectures from experts in law enforcement, academia, and cyber forensics, providing a comprehensive learning experience.
