JAMMU, Oct 13: Sampooran Kashmir Sangthan (SKS) has urged the Government of India to take a concrete decision on the return and rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits by November 15 as community has suffered a lot in last 30 years of exile due to the policies of successive Governments.
The Sangthan which held a meeting at Union Capital today said that new hopes had emerged among the displaced Pandits after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A and creation of separate UTs in Jammu and Kashmir. The entire community complimented Narendra Modi Government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for this historic decision, it added. The meeting said it is strange that since the abrogation of controversial articles on August 5 the GoI has not spoken even a single word about the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley.
The meeting said SKS had successfully brought various KP organizations under one Umbrella in June this year and framed Kashmiri Pandit Organisations Alliance (KPOA) and in case the Government continues to maintain the stoic silence on the return and rehabilitation of exiled Pandits in Valley, the Alliance will be left with no option but to launch the agitation.
The meeting said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had promised during 2014 elections that dignified and honourable return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits will be priority of his Government but the same has been ignored now.
The meeting was chaired by the president of the Sangthan, Anoop Kaul and it was also addressed by its general secretary, Bharat Kachroo.
