SKUAST-J Academic Council approves various agenda items

JAMMU, Dec 5: Twenty- fourth Academic Council meeting of SKUAST-Jammu, which was held today under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof B N Tripathi, approved various agenda items after threadbare discussion.
During the meeting, 32 agenda items were discussed, mainly comprised of holding of forthcoming VIIIth Convocation of SKUAST-Jammu, award of Certificates of Merit & Gold Medals during the 8th Convocation, institutionalization of Gold Medal in PG Programme, implementation of Higher Education opportunities for private sector/Agricultural Industry employees, inclusion of Experimential Learning Course on Skill Development in Natural Farming, institution of B Sc (Hons) Natural Farming, admission to M Sc (Agri.) Molecular Biology and Biotechnology under DBT-PG Programme.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor emphasized that the Academic Council meetings should be conducted regularly to frame rules for modification of existing rules for improving quality of education. Further he emphasized need to accelerate progress in order to address new challenges related to excellence in academics through the team efforts.
Vice Chancellor underscored the significance of quality education and highlighted the importance of group discussions and problem based exercise to enhance academic performance. Emphasizing that students are the ultimate products of the institution, he stressed the need for them to possess high-quality attributes. Additionally, he urged teachers to revamp their teaching methodologies to be more practical-oriented, fostering the development of competencies that contribute to the university’s improved ranking. Acknowledging the strength of the faculty, he urged a collective effort towards global outreach.
Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor assured to enhance infrastructure facilities and modifications in university regulations, if any required to continuous improvement and excellence within the academic sphere.
Earlier, agenda of the meeting was presented by Prof S K Gupta, Registrar and Member Secretary of the Academic Council. All the statutory officers of the University, Heads of the Divisions of various Faculties, Professors and Scientists attended the meeting.
Dr Bharat Bhushan, Joint Registrar (Academic) was the rapporteur and he also presented the vote of thanks.
