JAMMU, Apr 27: A one day veterinary clinical-cum health camp was organized here today by the division of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu, R.S Pura to celebrate World Veterinary Day 2024 on theme ‘Veterinarians are Essential Health Workers.’
The camp was held under the guidance of Dr. B.N Tripathi, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean, F.V.Sc and A.H at village Badyal Brahmina which was inaugurated by Dr. H.R Bhardwaj, HOD, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology in the presence of other faculty members.
VC SKUAST-Jammu in his message said that World Veterinary Day is celebrated every year to recognise the efforts of veterinarians all over the world.
Dr. Katoch in his message asserted that Veterinarians play a critical role in the prevention and control of animal diseases.
On this occasion a veterinary clinical-cum health camp was organised in village Badyal Brahmina, R.S Pura which was led by Senior Veterinary experts and supported by a team of Postgraduate and Undergraduate students of SKUAST-Jammu.
The camp brought vital services to doorsteps of the farming community.
More than 50 dairy farmers participated in the programme and were made aware about the routine management practices for general health care, de-worming, vaccinations and reproductive health.
Veterinary expert team led by Dr. H.R Bhardwaj and Dr. Kafil Hussain, Harsh Sharma, Dr. Sudhir, D.K Dwivedi, A.K Pandey, Rajesh Aggarwal and Ankur Sharma treated more than 65 buffaloes and mules on spot and medicines were distributed to them.
Sarpanch, Binny Sharma and all Panchs were also present during the camp.
Technical staff including Nasir Ali Bhat, Raj Kumar, Darshan Lal and PG students-Drs. Aditi Rana, Bisma Absar, Sachin Sharma, Himani Sharma, Prachi Sharma, Mohd. Raiees-ul-Islam, Misbah Shafi, Mashkoor Ahmad Shah, Iqbal, Akir Reyaz, Yawer, Jameel, Batan Singh, Ayman and Tinku, Sharik, Junaid, two internship students (Anuj, Akshat) and five under graduate students attended the clinical camp.
Representatives from the pharmaceutical company ‘Wellcon Animal Health’ were also present during the camp.
The camp activities were coordinated under the guidance of Head and Professor VSR Dr. H.R Bhardwaj.
