JAMMU, Oct 7: Pensioners of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences & Technology (SKUAST) Jammu have sought intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in releasing their pension for the month of September.
In a letter to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha the pensioners termed it a discrimination towards SKUAST Jammu pensioners by not disbursement of pension for the month of September 2024 till date, though the Comptroller SKUAST-J has given in writing that the pension will be disbursed well in time vide Letter No AU/Acctts/ Compt./2024-25/2123-26 dated 29-08-2024.
The letter said the SKUAST-J has given lame excuses for not releasing pension due to delay in approval by Vice Chancellor of University due to holidays. However the approval for salary of regular employees from Vice Chancellor was given before advance whereas the pensioners’ file was kept pending for no reason. With the result the salary of regular employees was disbursed timely and pensioners were deprived from getting pension in time. This means step motherly treatments is being done again with pensioners and similar attitude of University authority has been experienced from last one and half year though there are clear cut instructions from Government that the pension/family pension shall be credited to their bank account by the last working day of the month but university authority is not paying any attention and ignoring the rule totally.
The letter said the University authority must understand that delay in crediting the monthly pension/ family pension has caused financial hardships and anxiety to old age pensioners/ family pensioners.
The letter said pensioners SKUAST-K are getting pension to their retirees regularly in time through J&K Bank as SKUAST-K has signed an MoU with J&K Bank in this regard which makes facility of crediting the pension to account of pensioners/family pensioners before last working day of the month. Though repeatedly requesting to University authority to approach JK Bank to adopt and follow the similar pattern in SKUAST-J also so that pension shall be released on last working day of the month as being done in SKUAST-K or as in case of State Government pensioners. But, in this regard, they are showing casual approach which has added to woes of the pensioners of the University.
The pensioners seeking intervention of the LG have urged him to issue directives to University authority to release pension of the retired employees on last day of every month.
