JAMMU, Dec 26: A meeting of SKUAST – Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) was held in the presence of the advisors Professor R K Samnotra and Professor Susheel Sharma at Main Campus Chatha in which various issues pertaining to the development of varsity were discussed.
The Advisors advised the president SKUAST-TAJ Dr Vikas Sharma to immediately take up the agenda with the competent authority for filling up of all the vacant teaching positions that have already been advertised in June 2018. It was impressed that no person must be allowed as Incharge for more than six months on the post of Dean, Director, Registrar etc, strictly in accordance with the provisions of the SKUAST ACT / Statues (Clause 27) and direct selections for the post of Dean, Directors, Registrar must be completed at the earliest for which the process has already been initiated.
The Association also showed concern regarding the promotion of teachers from AGP Rs 8000 to Rs 9000, who have completed 12 years of service with Ph D degree as the scheme regarding promotion to Associate Professor / Sr Scientist in 12 years has already been implemented in SKUAST-Kashmir and both the Institutions are governed by the same statutes.
Various other agendas like clearing of all pending transfer cases of scientists, advertisement of vacant positions for SMS, withdrawal of BAS guidelines etc were also deliberated in the meeting for better functioning of the farm university.
Dr Vikas Sharma informed the house that the issues will be taken up with the competent authority and solved very soon. The office bearers of SKUAST-TAJ namely Dr Rajeev Bharat, Dr Devinder Sharma, Dr P K Rai, Dr Jai Kapoor, Dr Rohit Sharma, Dr Vijay Bahadur, Dr Anil Bhat, Dr Amitesh and Dr Poonam Parihaar attended the meeting.
SKUAST-TAJ general secretary Dr Vivek Sharma pointed out that as per the SKUAST Act (Clause 27), the Vice-Chancellor can make appointments of officers as a temporary measure for a period of six months, but in the University few officers are holding the posts for periods ranging between 1 and 5 years, in gross violation of the Act.
