JKSTIC approves Rs 1.45 cr research funding

JAMMU, Jan 28: The four day awareness-cum-training programme on ‘Hygienic Milk Production and Value Addition of Milk’ for farmers of Jammu district organized by SKUAST-Jammu concluded today at R.S Pura.
The programme was organized by Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu.
Prof. (Dr.) B.N Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu and Dr. Hema Tripathi, National Coordinator of ICAR-NAHEP and first Lady of SKUAST-Jammu graced the occasion and interacted with women trainees.
Prof. Tripathi was chief guest on valedictory function. Speaking on the occasion he said that skilled and trained women are vehicles of growth and development as the training on ‘Hygienic Milk Production and Value Addition of Milk’ can help in increasing the shelf-life of milk which will provide additional income to dairy farmers.
The awareness programme was organized under HADP Project entitled ‘Innovative extension approaches for revitalizing agricultural extension.’
Dr. S.K Gupta, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu and Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, R.S Pura also graced the occasion.
The participants were made aware about hygienic milk production.
Dr. Pranav Kumar, Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education F.V.Sc & AH, R.S Pura & Training Coordinator of this training programme gave special thanks to Dr. Kamal Sarma, HoD, Division of VAHEE; Dr. Sunil Kumar, Prof. & Head, Division of Livestock Products Technology and his team of co-coordinators including Dr. Arvind Kumar (Division of LPT), Dr. Sudhir Kumar (Division of VGO), Dr. A.K Pathak (Division of ANN), Dr. D. Chakraborty (Division of AGB) and Postgraduate students Dr. Anna Singh & Dr. Ravneet Kour as well as non-teaching staff of Veterinary Extension division.
Jammu and Kashmir Science and Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science & Technology, UT of J&K has approved funding to Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) for the nineteen research projects in various emerging areas. The grant, totaling a budget of 145.39 lakhs INR for 19 projects was announced as part of JKSTIC scheme for 02 years. The selected projects cover a range of emerging domains in agriculture and veterinary fields, demonstrating a strategic alignment with the latest advancements and societal requirements.
