JAMMU, June 13: Prof Surinder Kumar Gupta, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, today interacted virtually with the participants of Certificate Course on Integrated Nutrient Management for Input Dealers organized by KVK Poonch.
The VC interacted with the trainees while participating in inaugural ceremony of two days National Conclave-2023 on National Education Policy-2020 at Srinagar, where he was invited as the guest of honour along with Sheetal Nanda, Principal Secretary Social Welfare, during the inaugural ceremony. Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking to the participants, VC SKUAST-Jammu said that the dealers/retailers are an important link between company and farmers and key change agents in motivating the farmers to use fertilizers in a balanced manner. The fertilizers and manures are important for crop growth and development and help to pay good dividends to farmers in return.
Prof Gupta congratulated the participants and KVK Poonch for organising the training program and assured full help to the participants from University in future also. Sr Scientist & Head, KVK Poonch, Dr Ajay said that the main objective of certificate course was that no unauthorized person shall be allowed to sell the fertilizers in illegal and inappropriate manner. He further said that for healthy soil and better crop productivity, the role of nutrients is quite essential and the bulk of major nutrients are supplied through the fertilizers.
During the training, wide-ranging lectures regarding fertilizers were delivered by scientists from KVK, SKUAST-J and resource persons from IFFCO and SKUAST-K.
Dr Ajay also highlighted the role of dealers who in addition to running their businesses may actually help the farmers to use the particular fertilizers based upon the soil and crop requirement. The training programme was attended by 20 participants hailing from different areas of Poonch district.
