JAMMU, Dec 5: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan (HP) and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) here at Chatha Campus, with the aim to exchange academic, research and extension strengths of both the Institutes in the area of Horticulture, Forestry and allied sectors.
YSPUHF-Solan in Himachal Pradesh is a premier institute in the fields of Horticulture, Forestry and allied sectors.
The MoU was signed between the Directors of Research of both the Universities, in presence of Prof J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, who observed that this partnership is aimed at facilitating a close cooperation between both the Universities for NEP-2020 and would be a milestone in the area of strengthening teaching, research and extension programs, besides production of the disease-free, quality planting material of fruits and forest plants.
Dr Sanjeev K Chauhan, Director Research of YSPUHF-Solan, thanked Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu for accepting their proposal to ink the MoU between both the Universities for exchange of faculty and students of both the institutes that cater to similar agro-climatic climatic conditions in their respective regions, to have a better exposure of the biodiversity and to share the teaching & learning experiences.
Dr Pardeep Wali, Director Research of SKUAST-Jammu briefed the house about the various objectives of the MoU for strengthening the teaching, research and extension programs in the University. He highlighted the strengths of both the Universities that can be shared and helpful to the students and the researchers as well.
The MoU proceedings were coordinated by Dr Mahital Jamwal, Associate Director (Research) of SKUAST-Jammu.
