JAMMU, Oct 28: A general body meeting of pensioners of SKUAST-Jammu was held today to discuss some important issues related to the delayed disbursement of pension to retired employees of the university due to which they were suffering for the last many years.
In order to effectively project their genuine demands, they announced constitution of SKUAST-J Pensioners Welfare Forum and elected its executive body.
Dr A S Bali was elected as the president while Dr C S Kalha and Dr Parmod Baru were elected as vice president. Dr R K Arora was elected as General Secretary, Dr V S Verma as Joint Secretary and R K Kapoor as Treasurer. Dr Mohd Saleem, Dr V Koul and Dr J P Sharma were elected as the Councillors.
The Forum alleged that step motherly treatment is given to the pensioners by the University authorities. Though there are clear cut instructions from the J&K Government that the pension/family pension should be disbursed by the last working day of the month, this callous attitude of the University authorities was unbecoming for the pensioners now, observed the participants.
The issue of stopping the recovery of commutation from the pensioners who have completed more than ten years was discussed in the meeting.
Another important issue of grant of notional increment to those retirees who have retired on 30th June/31st December was also discussed in the meeting of the Forum.
The meeting was organized under the patronage of Dr Roshan Singh, ex president of erstwhile SKUAST J&K who was also designated as Patron of the Forum.
