JAMMU, Aug 26: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricul-tural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Himalayan Forest Research Institute (HFRI) Shimla (HP).
The MoU was exchanged between Prof J P Sharma (Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu) and Dr Sandeep Sharma (Director, HFRI Shimla) for the betterment of respective organizations. Himalayan Forest Research Institute Panthaghati, Shimla is one of the nine Regional Research Institutes of Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, Uttrakhand, an Autonomous Body under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.
The purpose of this MoU between the two parties is to provide a framework for the proposed collaboration for pursuing quality research and building a new generation of highly skilled human resource, providing entirely new opportunities for employment and economic development, with main focus on environment, bio-resources, skill development, livelihood opportunities, science and technology, biotechnology, health and wellness life style domain of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
The exchange of experience and scientific knowledge between the two institutions will be of great interest for their mutual progress and also for service of the Society. The MoU will work on collaboration in Forestry Research, Education & Extension Activities, Exchange of Information and Experience, Use of Infrastructure, Faculty and Student Exchange Programs and Cooperative Research Projects.
Pradeep Wali, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr Jagdish Singh Head extension HFRI, Prof M S Jamwal, ADR SKUAST-J, Prof Sanjay Khajuria Chief Scientist & Head KVK Samba and Dr Pravin Rawat Scientist HFRI Shimla were associated in signing of the MoU.
