SKUAST-TAJ delegation calls on Agri Minister

JAMMU, Dec 13: SKUAST-Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) under the leadership of its president Dr Vikas Sharma called on Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today.
During the meeting, Minister and SKUAST-TAJ team discussed various important issues related to the teaching, research and extension of the Varsity.
President Dr Vikas Sharma apprised the Minister regarding the Career Advancement issues related to the teaching and technical staff of both the farm Universities (SKUAST-J and SKUAST-K). He requested to support the agenda for the betterment of employees of agriculture varsities.
Dr Vikas demanded sanction for opening of College of Dairy Technology and College of Agricultural Engineering as these colleges are the need of the hour which will increase the flow of students in the Institution.
General Secretary of the association Dr Vivek M Arya briefed about the extensive damage caused by the flash floods due to which all the divisions situated on the ground floor in all the eight blocks of Main Campus Chatha were flooded with water.
Minister showed concern for the strengthening of existing KVKs and establishment of new KVKs and advised the TAJ team to continuously strive for achieving excellence in teaching, research and ensure dissemination of latest technologies among the farming community.
He assured full financial and moral support to both the professional/farm universities from the present State Government.
Among others present were Dr PK Rai, Joint Secretary, Dr Devinder Sharma, Publicity Secretary, Dr Rajeev Bharat Sangra, Treasurer, etc.
