SAMBA, Apr 5: Sr Vice president J&K National Conference and former Minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia today lambasted BJP for pursuing communal agenda, saying their attempts of polarizing the people will meet stiff resistance from secular forces.
“They are riding a communal tiger and their defeat is imminent”, Mr Slathia said while addressing largely attended elections meetings in Nud, Sumbh and Banglad in Samba district.
Mr Slathia referred to the secret BJP and PDP understanding, saying their misadventure will fall flat as the politically sagacious people of Jammu and Kashmir are wise enough to read between the lines. “By helping out BJP, the PDP was showing only its desperation for lust of power”, he said while making a mention of putting up a candidate to cut the secular votes so that BJP is benefited.
Mr Slathia said that PDP leadership is used to indulge in loud speak while BJP has been working for creating divisions among the people. “The divide and rule strategy stands now exposed before the people, he said while asking the people to make a right decision in the ensuing elections by rejecting negative forces and ensuring victory of the coalition candidate.
He said whatever the plank of the communal BJP and opportunistic PDP may be, the people are determined to isolate the self seekers. He said the ensuing elections will vindicate the secular forces with Madan Lal Sharma registering a massive win from Jammu-Poonch constituencies. He said the victory of the alliance candidate will further strengthen the Coalition Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and will help steer the State to new pinnacles of development and progress.
Those who were present on the occasion included Swaran Lata, Subash Bhagat, Prakash Sharma, Satwant Kour Dogra, Mohinder Singh and others.
