SAMBA, July 30: Reiterating the BJP’s unwavering commitment to the upliftment and empowerment of Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), former Minister and vice president of the party, Surjeet Singh Slathia today said the NDA Government has undertaken several initiatives in the mission mode to  address the challenges faced by these marginalised communities.
The BJP vice president was addressing OBC Morcha Sammelan at Samba and ST Morcha Sammelan at Chak Medu Gujjran in the district.
Slathia said the BJP believes that the progress of the nation is intrinsically linked to the progress of its marginalized communities. He said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been steadfast in his Government’s  resolve to create opportunities for every segment of the society to ensure that no one is left behind and benefits of various schemes accrue to last person .
Slathia lambasted the INDI Alliance, especially the Congress for creating division among people on the basis of caste and region, saying this is dangerous for harmonious growth of the society. He called upon the people to unitedly fight these machinations, which were jeopardising the growth of the country. He also cautioned them against the malicious propaganda being unleashed over reservation policy and said this is being done to play with the sensitivities of the stakeholders just for vote bank politics.
Slathia said the NDA Government under  Modi is dedicated to building a nation where every individual, irrespective of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. The upliftment of OBC, SC and ST communities is not just a priority but a moral imperative for the BJP, he maintained.
Slathia referred to the key initiatives like increased scholarship and financial aid for OBC, SC and ST students, besides expansion of educational infrastructure, particularly in the remote and rural areas, saying these are aimed at providing level play fields among these sections of the society.
He expressed satisfaction over the enterprising youth of these segments benefiting from skill development programmes and hoped that those in the rural areas to avail of the credit and financial services for small businesses.
