Slathia calls for inculcating healthy competitive spirit among students

SAMBA, Mar 26: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh BJP vice president and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia today emphasized the crucial need of inculcating healthy competitive spirit among students, both in academics and extracurricular activities to meet the challenges of the competitive world.
Speaking at separate functions to celebrate annual day function of New Light Higher Secondary School, Balore Samba and Modern Institute of Education High School Sumb in Samba, Slathia said the competitive spirit enables students to grow in a productive atmosphere and places them in good stead, be it entry into careers, career development and sports arenas.
He said the parents and teachers can play a proactive role in this regard, adding that frequent interactions could lead to corrective measures wherever necessary.
Slathia said while teachers can be facilitators, the initiative has to come from the students. As such, a greater role is cast upon parents to mould their children, as home is supposed to be the first school. In this context, he also stressed the need for a larger interpersonal relationship between students, teachers and parents, especially at the basic schooling level, as an important component of the learning process.
SS Slathia, who was chief guest at the Annual Day functions, also highlighted the need for imbibing good moral values among the students.
The former Minister lauded the management of the two schools for their innovative approach towards learning and other extra-curricular activities.
On these occasions, the heads of these schools presented annual reports, highlighting the academic odyssey of their institutions with special mention of extra-curricular activities. The students also presented variety of programmes.
ZEO Samba Pawan Singh Slathia was guest of honour at Modern Institute of Education High School Sumb. Prominent persons including Chairman Narinder Singh, Principal Jeevan Jyoti, Shiv Charan Singh, Sarpanch Surya Prakash Verma, Baldev Singh, Sardar Singh, Bimla Devi, Surinder Singh, Narinder Singh besides parents and students were present during the event.
