SAMBA, Dec 18: Senior National Conference leader and former minister, Surjit Singh Slathia today demanded special recruitment drive in Armed and Para-military forces for the youth living within five kilometer of International Border (IB) in Jammu region.
Addressing party workers and general public at village Khour Slarian in Nandpur area of Ramgarh in Vijaypur constituency, Slathia said that border dwellers are living in a pitiable condition, not only because of intermittent shelling from across the border but also due to the fear psychosis which restricts their movement to their land holdings for farming. He also sought expediting work on the bunkers and decision with regard to providing alternate dwelling units for the residents of forward areas.
