SAMBA, Sept 15: Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Slathia today inaugurated one-day National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Sammelan at block Ramgarh in district Samba.
The District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh ADDC Neelam Sethi, Dy CMO Samba, BMO Ramgarh and District Officers of various departments were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Slathia said that Coalition Government, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, has revolutionised the health services in the state. “Implementation of NRHM Scheme has been streamlined by posting adequate number of doctors in the far flung and remote areas thus improving health services to great extent”, he said .
Minister also appealed to the general public to come vehemently against the social evil of female foeticide to improve the birth rate of girl child and to overcome the adverse sex ratio. He said that healthcare was the core sector and the present Government was making every effort to expand its base by creating adequate infrastructure. He said NRHM scheme was instrumental in achieving these objectives.
Minister also appealed to the panchs and sarpanchs to utilize the funds for the rural sanitation in a judicious manner and asked them to monitor developmental activities going on in their panchayats .
On the occasion, Minister also honoured the ASHA Workers who showed good results in providing help to the pregnant females and motivating them for institutional deliveries.
Later, the Minister also addressed the public meeting at Village Koulpur in Vijaypur constituency.
The Minister issued instructions to concerned authorities to provide Urdu teacher in the school, construction of bathroom in the school premises, construction of shamshangat, 2 hand pumps in Koulpur, one in Dashmesh Nagar, upgradation of transformer from 100 KV to 250 KV and black topping of the road from main road to village Koulpur.
