VIJAYPUR, Dec 26: Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Surjeet Singh Slathia today paid glowing tribute to martyrs, who stood firm in the defense of nation in challenging situations.
“We salute the valour of brave jawans, who laid down their lives while defending the nation”, Slathia said while leading people in paying homage to Shaheed Nk/ Rifleman Swaran Singh Badkhoria of 16 JAKLI, at a function held at village Ranjadi Raya in Vijaypur Assembly constituency this afternoon.
Shaheed Swaran Singh Badkhoria attained martyrdom during Op Parakaram in Abohar Punjab. The former Minister, who was chief guest at the homage function, seized this opportunity to express anguish over the plight of border dwellers and said they have been hugely betrayed.
“Their problems are accumulating with each passing day as the defunct utility services are responsible for erratic power and water supply and the developmental tempo has received a huge dent”, he said, hoping the Governor’s administration will provide them some respite.
Prominent among those who paid homage to Shaheed Rifleman Badkhoria included Sarpanches – Brijpal Singh, Daljeet Singh and Bharat Bhushan.
Slathia led the people in paying floral tributes to the martyr. They recalled his services to the nation and said his martyrdom has made the entire State proud.
