VIJAYPUR, Dec 26: Former minister and National Conference state secretary, Surjeet Singh Slathia today paid floral tribute to martyrs, saying they have made the nation proud by standing like rock on frontiers to meet challenging situations.
“We salute the valour of brave jawans, who laid down their lives while defending the nation”, Mr Slathia said while leading people in paying homage to Shaheed Nk Rifleman, Swarn Singh Badhoria of 16 JAK Light Infantry, at a function held at village Ranjari Raya in Vijaypur Assembly Constituency this afternoon.
Shaheed Badhoria of 16 JAK LI Inf attained martyrdom during ‘Op Parakaram’ in Abohar area of Punjab.
The former minister, who was chief guest at the function, seized this opportunity to express anguish over the plight of border dwellers and said they are needed to be instilled sense of security. “Their problems are accumulating with each passing day which should be addressed earnestly”, Slathia added.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Deputy Commandant, B K Awasthi and Capt Narotam Singh. They also paid tributes to the martyr.
Slathia led the people of the area, who had come in large number, in paying floral tributes to the martyr. They recalled his services to the nation and said his martyrdom has made the entire Vijaypur area proud.
