Slathia reviews arrangements for Melas at Baba Sidh Goriya, Baba Chamliyal

SAMBA, June 10: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Surjit Singh Slathia chaired meetings of the district administration at the shrines of Baba Sidh Goriya and Baba Chamliyal and took stock of the arrangements made for the annual melas being held at both of these shrines.
Mela at Baba Chamliyal shrine situated near international border at Ramgarh sector will be held on June 28, while at the shrine of Baba Sidh Goriya in village Swankha it will be a weeklong event commencing from July 1.
A parking lot was also inaugurated at the shrine of Baba Sidh Goriya by the Minister. He assured the people that the Government was taking every possible step to facilitate the devotees visiting these shrines and many developmental projects like construction of shopping complexes, parks, sanitary complexes, provision of water supply etc. have been taken up by Governmental agencies like Rural Development Department under BADP.
He issued directions to the district administration to provide uninterrupted power and water supply to these shrines well in advance and during mela days. He also directed the PWD (R&B) department to renovate the roads from the National Highway to these shrines and also take up black topping of the circular road around Baba Sidh Goriya Shrine.
He further directed the district administration to take due care of sanitation in and around the shrines in view of huge congregation of devotees on the Mela days. He also passed instructions to the Legal Metrology and CA&PD Departments to keep a check on the quality, hygiene and rates of the food items being sold by the vendors there.
Surjit Singh Slathia also reviewed the security arrangements and preparedness related to Fire and Emergency Services, health facilities, mobile service network, traffic regulation etc.
At the Mela sites various departments of the district Samba will also put up their stalls to exhibit their products and aware the general public about various schemes being implemented by the Government for the welfare of the masses.
Others present on the occasion were DDC Samba Mubarak Singh, ADC Bikram Singh Jamwal, ADDC Neelam Sethi, ACR B L Sharma ,BSF Commandant 200 BN, Officer Commanding 69 RCC GREF,CPO Sant Ram, Sarpanchs and panchs of the area, Mahants of the shrines and various district officers.
