SAMBA, Sept 18: Senior State Vice President and former minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia on Sunday denounced communal and divisive politics, saying this is against the idea of pluralistic Jammu and Kashmir.
“Inclusiveness and togetherness has been greatest strength of this unique State which has withstood test of times during most turbulent and horrendous periods of history”, Slathia said this in a specially organized function at Nanga village of Ramnagar in Vijaypur Assembly Constitue-ncy.
Slathia said National Conference has not only strengthened the composite ethos of the State but also nurtured it, braving hostile winds and machinations of vested interests. The contribution of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah in this regard has been stupendous. This spirit, he said, is to preserved, sustained and promoted especially at a time when Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a most difficult times. In this context, he referred to the recent incidents in Rajouri belt, saying these are against the spirit of inclusiveness. He lauded the role of the people in defeating the machinations of those who want to generate wedge among different segments of society.
He also lashed out at PDP-BJP for failing on all fronts and said the lack of vision and political will has brought the State to present morass.
Slathia exhorted the cadre to intensify their mass contact programme by reaching out to the people in their areas for seeking redressal to their problems, which have multiplied during the past two years.
