JAMMU, Dec 24: J&K State Level Nodal Agency (J&K SLNA) for Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) organized a one day workshop on “Construction and De-Silting of Water Harvesting/Storage Structures” at JKEDI, here today.
The workshop was attended by State Level Technical Experts of SLNA, representatives of Forest, Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development Departments and field functionaries of IWMP from all the districts of the State.
Secretary to Government, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (Chairman JK SLNA) Shafaat Noor Barlas, inaugurated the workshop.
In his inaugural speech, Shafaat Noor Barlas emphasized upon the participants to contribute in changing the lives of rural masses. He stressed that the young technocrats have potential and capabilities and can play a great role for making an impressive change in the lives of rural population.
The Secretary appreciated the work being undertaken in the remote areas by the field functionaries of IMWP especially in areas like Nobra. He said many areas have special potential which needs to be tapped and exploited for overall betterment of these areas.
CEO, SLNA, Dr. G.H. Shah stated that the objective of the workshop is to sensitize the stakeholders, adding that such workshops will be held in near future in all the districts. He highlighted the importance of water harvesting structures.
