SLNM Mgmt Trust organizes debate competition

JAMMU, Dec 17: Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir (SLNM) Management Trust, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu today organized a debate competition on the topic ‘character is the basis of every religion’ in temple premises wherein students from 6th to 12th classes of 20 schools sprawling throughout Jammu city participated in the competition.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University, Jammu was the chief guest and Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and president of the Management Trust, presided over the event. Two participants from each school participated in this competition. A panel of three senior professors of Jammu University constituted the judging committee.
First, 2nd and 3rd prizes in the competitions were won by Rudhrakshi of Class 11th of Co-operative Public High School, Deeli (Jammu), Priya Malbotra of Class 10th of Dogra Higher Secondary School (DHSS), Shastri Nagar (Jammu) and Supriya Uttam of Class 10th of DHSS Shastri Nagar.
Harjot Kaur of Class 10th of Heritage School, Sainik Colony and Samiya Aziz of Class 12th of Shikaha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar (Jammu) were given consolation prizes while two special prizes were awarded to Vatsal of Class 4th and Shambhavi Sharma of class UKG of Rich Harvest School, Shastri Nagar.
Participation certificates were also given to other participants and a trophy was awarded to the DHSS Shastri Nagar for over all best performance of the team.
Cash prizes of Rs 2000, 1500 and 1000 were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders, respectively and four consolation prizes of Rs 500 were also awarded to the winning students by the chief guest.
In his address, Prof Ashok Aima emphasized that to build the character of the youth such programmes need be continuously pursued with vigor.
While addressing the gathering, Gulchain Singh Charak said that such programmes inculcate the moral values in the youth who are the future of the Country.
