‘Small Stone Sculpture Camp’ inaugurated

JAMU, Apr 13:  Organized by Popular Art Studio in collaboration with Vihaan Art Foundation, a week long ‘Small Stone Sculpture Camp’ started at Babliana, Jeevan Nagar, here today.
The participating young creative sculptors in the camp being held under an NGO initiative at the premises of Popular Art Studio, Opposite Dudhadhari Goushala, Babliana, included Vikas Khajuria, Vikas Dogra, Narinder Kumar, Jagdish Singh and Brij Pal Anand.
Veteran sculptor Sardar Amrik Singh Namdhari presided over the function while Rattan Choudhary, a social activist was the chief guest.
Sardar Amrik Singh Namdhari who was felicitated with a shawl and memento on the occasion, in his address said that the credit of starting modern school of sculpture in Jammu goes to late eminent sculptor late Vidya Rattan Khajuria who not only trained number of students in the State but also in other parts of the country like Patiala, Gwalior and Bhubhneshwar etc. He said that such camps provide an opportunity to artists to interact while working together.
The camp, coordinator informed that very soon an exhibition of the creative sculptures created during the camp would be held at Kala Kendra. The function of was attended by number of young artists and members of civil society.
