Sir,
It is a matter of delight that the twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu have figured in the list of cities to be developed as ‘Smart cities.’
The two cities of the State are under great strain due to increasing population and multitude of problems. These two historic cities are frequented by large number of pilgrims and tourists every year. However, some of these visitors feel disgusted at the lack of civic amenities in the cities. The two cities also face water, electricity shortage and have poor inner city road connectivity. In Srinagar the lanes are congested and do not allow smooth flow of traffic. These lanes stench due to defective sewerage system. Garbage dumps are seen here and there.Cattle and dogs are seen straying day in and day out there. The whole scenario is quite pathetic and disappointing.
If the two cities are brought under the purview of ‘Smart Cities’ urban infrastructure would improve considerably to the delight of residents and visitors.
Yours etc…
