JAMMU, Mar 15: Apni Party general secretary Vikram Malhotra today said that the status of Smart City is far from reality for the people of Jammu.
In a statement to the press, Malhotra said that the Smart City project is delayed because of lack of interest in the administration. “So far, we do not see it will become a reality in near future. The project needs a dedicated team of official to monitor the ongoing work to implement the Smart City project,” said Malhotra while speaking at a function organized at ward number 7 and ward number 19 in Jammu East Assembly Constituency.
The Apni Party leader said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation has failed on all the fronts and the City has turned into garbage dump. “You go to any part of the City, you will find garbage dumps. The JMC has not been able to make Jammu City free of garbage and foul smell,” he alleged.
He said that the Corporators are also not empowered financially by the Corporation and it seems far from reality that Jammu will become green and clean. He said that the defined collection areas of garbage in Jammu Old City are full of garbage and the JMC has never bothered to dispose them.
“The slogans are on the posters and the ground is filled with the garbage, chocked drains and stinking residential localities. The unclean and unhealthy hazardous may create health issues if they are not cleared timely,” he cautioned.
Malhotra said that the Ward number 7 is one such example where the respective Corporator has adopted a non-serious approach towards the cleanliness and development. “On both fronts, the Corporator has failed and the people are left to suffer,” he added.
On this occasion, many people joined Apni Party.
