Srinagar, July 5: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today demolished several illegal structures that had come up near Lawaypora along the National Highway as well as in the adjacent Mujgund area of Srinagar while suspending two ward officers for dereliction of duty.
The drive was carried out by SMC’s Enforcement Wing and out of four illegal constructions, two were demolished at the initial level and the rest that had come up beyond the initial level illegally were also raised to the ground.
In this regard, Commissioner SMC Athar Amir told EXCELSIOR that they have suspended two ward officers and demolished the illegal structures.
“SMC conducted extensive demolition drive against illegal and unauthorised construction in Lawaypora, Mujgund area. Illegal shops and other structures were immediately demolished,” he said.
“The ward officers of Lawaypora and Mujgund have been suspended for dereliction of duties and have been attached with the sanitation officer,” he said.
