Smuggled ‘kuth’ seized, 2 arrested

Srinagar, Nov 10: Police in Ganderbal today arrested two smugglers and seized 16 bags of illegally procured forest produce known as ‘kuth.’
Authorities reported that, acting on a specific information, a police team from Police Station Gund, under the supervision of SDPO Kangan, intercepted a vehicle with registration number JK18C-6556, carrying two persons.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Raina, son of Habibullah Raina, a resident of Ganivan Kangan, and Fareed Ahmad Akhoon, son of Ab Ahad Akhoon, a resident of Rayil Gagangir.
During the search, police said a significant quantity of illegally procured forest produce, popularly known as “kuth,” was found packed in 16 gunny bags and subsequently seized.
“They have been arrested, and the vehicle used in the crime has also been seized,” police stated.
A case, FIR No. 48/2024 with relevant sections of law, has been filed at Police Station Gund, and an investigation initiated.
