DODA, Dec 19: Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in Premnagar area and seized a vehicle loaded with 3 bovines and also arrested the smuggler involved in the crime.
Sources said that cops led by Incharge Police Post Premnagar during a Naka on Doda-Kishtwar road at Shibnot intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK06B-5047 coming from Thathri and moving towards Pul Doda.
On seeing cops, driver of the vehicle fled from the spot. During checking, cops found the vehicle loaded with three bovine animals which were tied with rope, without feeding arrangements and without proper permission.
One Rayaz Ahmed, son of Abdul Hakim, resident of Kahi Kahara, Gandoh, who was travelling in the vehicle failed to produce any kind of permission or explanation with regard to the transportation of bovines and was arrested on the spot.
Cops also seized the vehicle and in this connection a case in FIR number 75/2024 and under section 223 BNS with 11 PC Act was registered at Police Station Thathri and investigation started.
