DODA, Mar 25: Police here today arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued seven bovines.
Cops at vehicle checking duty at Pul Doda near Chinnar Morh signalled a vehicle of Mahindra Pick Up make bearing registration number JK 19-A/6284 coming from Kishtwar to halt but the driver increased the speed and tried to escape.
Cops chased the vehicle but the driver fled away taking advantage of darkness while the vehicle was found loaded with 7 bovine animals which were being transported to Kashmir in a cruel manner without any provision of food and water and without any proper permission from the concerned authorities.
An FIR with No. 69/2025 U/S 281, 223 BNS 11 PC Act, 179 MV Act was registered at Police Station Doda, in this regard and investigation started.
During investigation, driver of the vehicle was identified as Mohd Hanief, son of Alfu Gujar, resident of Barthal, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban and he was arrested.
