UDHAMPUR, Oct 21: The police in a major success nabbed a narco-smuggler and recovered heroin worth over Rs 6 crores from his possession in Chenani area of district Udhampur today.
A police spokesman said that a police team from Police Station Chenani led by SHO Jaswinder Singh during naka at Motorshed on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number JK13B-1343. The vehicle was on way towards Jammu from Kashmir side.
During checking of the said vehicle, the police team recovered 700 grams of heroin, concealed carefully. The smuggler was arrested on the spot. He was identified as Mohd Ashraf, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Gund, Tankipura in Kulgam,
A case FIR No. 163/2024 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
