KATRA, Dec 17: The Institute of Oncology at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital successfully organised its 3rd Masterclass on Head and Neck Oncology.
This year’s focus was Head and Neck cancers in which Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), was the chief guest.
More than 30 eminent faculties from different institutions across Delhi, Srinagar, Chennai, Chandigarh and Ludhiana delivered lectures on different topics related to Head and Neck – Oncology. This year masterclass was completed in three sessions. The first session was covered by Prof Dr BK Mohanty, Dr Hema Malini Aiyer, Dr Madhu Vijay, Dr Nitin Vermani, Dr Geetangli Gupta, Dr Geeta Bhagat, Dr Parveen Royal Mokkapati and Dr Ashutosh Gupta.
Similarly, the second session described in detail the role of Surgery, Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy in head and neck cancer. The speakers included Dr Jagadesan P, Dr Ritesh Ranjan, Dr Nadeem Shaukat, Dr Shoukat Khan, Dr Mir Hussain, Dr Malik Tariq, Dr Dodul Mondal, Dr Mandeep Singh, Dr Deepak Abrol and Dr Sunil Kumar.
In the third session, there were debates and discussions about different presentations of head and Neck cancers. The panelist included Dr Pramod Kalsotra, Dr Satish Mehta, Dr Nazir Ahmed Khan, Dr Ankur Mittal, Dr Balwinder Singh, Dr Kuldeep Sharma, Dr Vikash Kumar, Dr Rahul Sharma, Dr Rohan Gupta, Dr Arjun Malhotra, Dr Rajesh Gupta, Dr Aman Sharma, Dr Niranjan Naik, Dr Alok Tiwari and Dr Aman Sharma.
There was also a parallel session on Radiotherapy workshop on Head and Neck cancers, Contouring guidelines and controversies. There was also e-participation from two speakers Dr S Zenda, Chief Radiation Oncology, National Cancer Institute, Japan, and Dr Purnima Upadhayay, Assistant Professor, Division of Hematology Oncology, Howard University.
The conference secretariat including doctors Dr Vikas Roshan (Radiation Oncologist), Dr Rajeev Saini (Medical Oncologist), Dr Satyankar Gupta, Dr Paras Khanna, Dr Jagmohan Singh and Dr Vikas Heer discussed the role of proton therapy, head and neck sarcoma surgeries and immunotherapy in head and neck cancers.
The sessions were coordinated by organizing committee at SMVD Narayana Hospital, Consisting of Dr Vikas Roshan (Radiation oncologist), Dr Rajeev Saini (Medical Oncologist), Dr Satyakar Gupta (Medical Oncologist), Dr Tapan Sharma (Surgical Oncologist) and Dr Paras Khanna (Surgical Oncologist).
