KATRA, Dec 2: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, in collaboration with Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, organised a workshop on stress management besides yoga event at Katra today.
A large number of yoga enthusiasts, employees of the Shrine Board and their family members, pilgrims, students of Gurukul and various other educational institutions participated in the stress management workshop as well as the yoga event.
Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, who was chief guest on the occasion, spoke about the benefits of yoga, particularly in living a healthy and stress-free life. He complimented the Bharatiya Yog Sansthan in collaborating with the Shrine Board for organising the workshop and the yoga event. He also thanked the Yog Sansthan for imparting training to some of the employees of the Shrine Board in yoga and meditation, who are now conducting free yoga and meditation classes, as in-house resource persons, at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra for the benefit of the Board employees and people of the area.
Des Raj, National General Secretary, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, New Delhi, extensively threw light on the causes of stress and gave some tips in regard to stress management for living a stress-free life. He also dwelt on the benefits of yoga in living a healthy and happy life.
Lalit Gupta, President, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Delhi, gave details of the establishment, history, growth and activities of the Yog Sansthan, while Sat Pal, President, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Jammu, mentioned about the functioning of the activities of the Sansthan in J&K.
Later, a largely attended yoga event was organised at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex in which officers and staff of the Shrine Board, functionaries of the Yog Sansthan, yoga practioners, people of the area, pilgrims, sports persons, students and members of Sports Complex participated. A series of Asanas, Pranayam and meditation were performed during the 2-hour long programme.
Des Raj conducted the session on Pranayam while the Asanas were held under the supervision of other yoga experts. Dr Arvind Karwani, Dy CEO of the Shrine Board presented vote of thanks while Jia Lal Sharma, Secretary, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Jammu conducted proceedings of the yoga event.
