KATRA, Jan 20: The 30th meeting of governing body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held at Spiritual Growth Centre here, where the arrangements for organising the State level Inter-College Nursing Fest ‘Tarang-2019’ were discussed.
About 400 students from various nursing colleges of the State as well as the host institution SMVDCoN are likely to participate in this 2-day event, which is scheduled to be held on March 29-30, 2019.
The meeting was chaired by Maj Gen S K Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the governing body of the College of Nursing while Dr V Verma, Dean, SMVDU; Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator of the SMVDCoN; Dr J P Singh, Senior Consultant, Neuro Surgery, SMVDNSH; M M Gupta, Chief Engineer of the Shrine Board and Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing; participated in the meeting.
The governing body also took stock of the to-date status of the construction of infrastructure of the SMVDCoN and expressed satisfaction at the pace of construction of the upcoming hostel blocks and the link road to the various buildings planned for the college. The meeting was informed that the infrastructure will come up as per the envisaged timelines in consonance with the emerging requirements.
While reviewing the action taken on the decisions of the previous meeting of the governing body and discussing the various agenda items, Chairman underscored the crucial need for making untiring efforts by all the stakeholders to nurture the SMVDCoN as a top ranking institution for imparting quality education in the discipline of nursing so that the alumni of this college serve the society with distinction. He also emphasised the need for undertaking such community-oriented projects the outcome of which is beneficial for the society at large.
The meeting also discussed the modalities in regard to the criteria for the faculty of the SMVDCoN to pursue Ph D programme in Nursing vis-a-vis the rules prevailing in the various other nursing colleges in the country.
