KATRA, Dec 28: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) launched a two-month basic soft skills training program aimed at enhancing the employability of unemployed youth.
The initiative, part of the university’s University Social Responsibility (USR) efforts, is open to individuals with at least a 10th-grade education. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion, along with support for job placement.
The inauguration event was attended by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, SMVDU; Prof Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr Yatheshth Anand, Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering.
They highlighted the importance of skill development programs in empowering local communities.
SMVDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Pragati Kumar praised the program as a significant step towards youth empowerment and societal progress, expressing confidence that it would positively impact participants’ personal and professional growth.
The program is coordinated by Dr Sanjay Sharma, Associate Professor and Coordinator of SMVDU’s Skill Hub Centre.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Deepak Byotra, Superintendent of the Central Workshop, who thanked the dignitaries, participants, and staff for their support.
