SMVDU organizes workshop on Innovative Sustainable Design

JAMMU, Feb 23: The School of Energy Management and the School of Architecture & Landscape Design, under the patronage of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), jointly organized a two-day intra-institute workshop on Innovative Sustainable Design at SMVDU.
During the inaugural session, SMVDU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Pragati Kumar emphasized the importance of organising such workshops which help to pool innovative ideas of the young minds. He added that sustainable design plays a crucial role in shaping a better future for generations to come. As we face challenging issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation, it is vital that we harness the power of innovation to create solutions that are both ecologically sound and socially responsible.
The workshop featured a diverse range of sessions, including expert presentations and hands-on workshops. Participants had the opportunity to engage with experts in the field, share their insights and experiences, and collaborate on projects that promote sustainability and innovation.
Prof Ashutosh Vaishstha, Dean Faculty of Management and Chairperson, IIC SMVDU, stated that by bringing together stakeholders from across our institution, they hope to nurture interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage the cross-pollination of ideas.
Dr Sanjeev Anand, Associate Dean R&D, said that this workshop is part of IIC 6.0 Calendar Activities for Academic Year 2023-24 given by the Ministry of Education`s Innovation Cell and the best innovations will be rewarded.
Dr Yatheshth Anand, Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering and coordinator of the workshop, explained about the details of the workshop. Abhiney Gupta, Asst Prof at SoALD, presented welcome address.
The session progressed with enlightening presentations by notable resource persons. C L Razdan, former Director of the School of Architecture at SMVDU, captivated the audience with his discourse on the retrofitting project at Pahalgam, offering a profound learning experience for the attending students. It was followed by Vaneet Aggarwal from BeeKay Protection Systems who shared pioneering advancements in home security, safety, and fire-fighting technologies.
