SMVDU receives Rs 20 cr grant under GSU Component

KATRA, Feb 19: In a significant boost to higher education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of India, has allocated a grant of Rs 20 crores to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, under Grant to Strengthen Universities (GSU) Component of PM-USHA Scheme.
The Project Approval Board (PAB) of the PM-USHA Scheme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, approved the grant to SMVDU in its 1st meeting.
SMVDU, in a communication, said that this financial boost, made possible through the PM-USHA initiative, would help SMVDU enhance its academic infrastructure and research potential. The funds will be utilized to upgrade laboratories, modernize classrooms, NEP implementation, and promote interdisciplinary research.
SMVDU is the only University in UT of J&K that has been designated to receive the grants under this scheme.
