Snatched vehicle recovered within 2 hrs, accused nabbed

UDHAMPUR, Jan 6: Udhampur police has claimed to have solved a vehicle snatching case within 2 hours.
According to a police official, a man namely Mohd Shafi Paddar son of Ghulam Nabi Paddar of Verinag (Anantnag) lodged a written complaint at police station Udhampur that he along with his relatives were travelling from Jammu towards Kashmir in a Maruti Baleno car bearing registration number JK03G-8145 and when they reached near Jakheni, two unknown persons signaled them to stop the vehicle and when they stopped, they forcefully snatched the vehicle from them and fled away with that.
He said that based on the written complaint, a case FIR number 12/2020 under Sections 341,382 IPC was registered at police station Udhampur and subsequently, all the police stations along NHW were informed and nakas were established at different locations of district Udhampur.
Accordingly, during checking of vehicles, a police party of police station Udhampur led by Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary (SHO PS Udhampur) under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch (Additional SP Udhampur) and Dr Rohit Chadgal (Deputy SP Headquarters Udhampur) and under the overall supervision of Rajiv Pandey (SSP Udhampur) traced the vehicle from Battal Ballian link road.
“Both the accused persons namely Raman Kumar son of Vijay Kumar of Omalla (Jakheni) and Jeevan Kumar son of Santosh Kumar of Channi Morh (Udhampur) were arrested,” the official said, adding the vehicle was recovered by the police within 2 hours and further investigation of the case is going on.
