Snatching case solved, three hardcore criminals held: Police

JAMMU, Oct 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Akhnoor area here claimed to have solved a sensational snatching case with the arrest of three hardcore criminals. A sharp-edged weapon was also recovered from the possession of the accused.
A police official said on September 19, 2024, a written complaint was received from one Suresh Kumar son of Milkhi Ram of Sungal Akhnoor, who alleged that three unidentified persons snatched his wine shop’s sale of Rs 1.5 lakh by beating his salesmen using arms.
On this, a case FIR number 167/2024 under sections 126(2)/115(2)/307/3(5) BNS was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigation taken up, he said.
Post registration of FIR, the police official said that a special team headed by SHO Akhnoor was constituted by SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma.
Using human and technical inputs, the team rounded up several suspects for questioning, added the police official.
He further said during sustained questioning, three suspects identified as Amit Pawa alias Suni of Gigrial Khour at present Devipur, Tehsil Jourian; Ashok Kumar alias Raja of Danwal, Tehsil Khour; and Vishal Sharma alias Vishu of Galwade Chak, Tehsil Marh, confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, a sharp-edged weapon (Desi Katta), motorcycle used in the offence, a wooden baton, and a black coloured bag was recovered.
According to the police official, the arrested individuals are hardcore criminals with a history of involvement in several crimes.
