LEH, Jan 2: The work in the SNM Hospital remained suspended for half day following a protest by doctors and paramedical staff over a Facebook comment wherein social media user reportedly posted some message leveling serious allegations against SNM staff. Due to the protest, the patients undergoing treatment or coming for treatment to the hospital also suffered.
The agitated staff demanded legal action against Rinchen Sangrup for posting such false allegation message. They also demanded action against the social media Admin.
Due to the protest, the patients also suffered as the protesting doctors and para staff refused to attend them till administration takes action against Rinchen Sangrup.
Talking to media persons, Spokesperson of All J&K Medical Employees Federation, Leh Unit Dr Zahed Hussian said that one of the social media users Rinchen Sangrup leveled serious allegation against SNM Hospital staff and so they decided to suspend their work to lodge their protest. He added that hospital doctors are handling the patients more than their capacity and with lots of overload work but such comments hurts the doctors and staff.
SNM Medical Superintendent Dr Motup Dorjay said that there was some false allegation with some irresponsible comment due to which doctors refused to work and around 5 ENT surgeries were postponed.
In the afternoon, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Sonam Chosjor visited the hospital and tried to pacify the agitators, but the protestors’ demanded intervention of DC.
The work resumed after intervention of Hill Council Chairman Dr Sonam Dawa who visited SNM hospital. He instructed ARC to constitute a committee to check over the allegation and also assured to take legal action against those also commented over the message.
