Snoop Dogg to guest star in new marijuana comedy show

LOS ANGELES, Aug 1:  Rapper Snoop Dogg will guest star and executive produce upcoming cannabis comedy “Mary + Jane.”
The 44-year-old “Drop It Like It’s Hot” hitmaker and marijuana aficionado, will also perform the theme tune for the MTV series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news was announced during the MTV panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour when Dogg appeared at the Beverly Hills, California event via video link.
Fellow executive producers Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont featured at the panel.
The pair acknowledged that Dogg doesn’t play himself but instead “a very, very special person” in the half-hour that sees stars Jessica Rothe and Scout Durwood play two twenty-something best friends who run an all-female marijuana delivery service in Los Angeles.
Kaplan added: “You don’t know when he’s going to appear. You have to watch all the way to an end to see him.”
Other celebrity guests include Seth Green, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Leonard Roberts, “Gone Girl” actress Missi Pyle, and comedian Andy Daly.
Dogg will produce Mary + Jane via his Merry Jane production company, a firm dedicated to marijuana, which he founded with media entrepreneur Ted Chung last year.
The show will premiere on MTV on September 5. (PTI)
